A Numerical Cipher of Japanese Army (1902-1904) Reconstructed from Japanese Archives

I uploaded a new article, "A Numerical Cipher of the Imperial Japanese Army (1902-1904)", which describes one numerical cipher of the Imperial Japanese Army in the Meiji Era reconstructed by Harumi-Matsuba.

The relevant materials were found in JACAR (Japan Center for Asian Historical Records). Although I worked on this database more than ten years ago, I didn't notice this. Come to think of it, I think my scope then was limited to what were found with the search term 暗号 (code/cipher), which already returned quite a few hits.

As noted yesterday, recent studies found a substantial collection of cipher materials related to Sun Yat-sen that escaped my notice. Hopefully, there will be a lot more to be found about Japanese (and Chinese) ciphers from this database.
